NHL 2001 Screenies -- 9:38 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

Gamespot got their hands on EA's latest NHL offering, NHL 2001, and posted some screenshots. I just wish they'd let my patch NHL 2000 to add the Minnesota Wild and Columbus Blue Jackets and be done with it. Oh well. Thanks Voodoo Extreme.

Updated FAKK2 Demo -- 9:22 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

Ritual has updated the Heavy Metal: FAKK2 demo to version 1.02, giving it all the fixes they made for the full version. You can download the demo patch (2.8M), the full 1.02 demo (72.4M), or the full demo in six 13M chunks. Thanks Blue.

1.13Ghz Pentiums Recalled -- 9:11 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

CNet is reporting that Intel is recalling 1.13Ghz Pentiums (Pentia?) because they suck due to some stability problems (to put it mildly). Sites like Tom's Hardware, HardOCP, and others have reported major problems with the chip's stability. I guess this is one case where it pays to be poor. Thanks Slashdot.

NVIDIA Sues 3dfx -- 8:53 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

Ahh, calling out the lawyers (shudder). NVIDIA has decided to sue 3dfx, claiming that their Voodoo3/4/5 line violates some of NVIDIA's patents. As bad as 3dfx' revenue stream has been lately, coupled by their plummeting stock price, you have to wonder how many legal assaults they can fend off. Thanks Evil Avatar.

Elite Force goes GOLD -- 12:33 pm CST, Update by The Master

Blue has received a press release indicating that Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force, has gone GOLD. Heh-another game I'd love to pick up, if I had 3 $20's to rub together. Oh, well... Enjoy all you mega ST game junkies-this one looks like a winner.

J.t. Gets Shocked -- 10:22 pm CST, Update by J.t.Qbe

Unable to resist the temptation, I picked up System Shock 2 in its new "EA Classics" incarnation for $15 last week. Wow! It definitely lives up to the standard set by its predecessor. It's a first-person game in which you play a military type (you pick which type) with cybernetic implants. You wake up on the first superluminal starship and have to figure out why all the crew members are dead. . . and what those mutant creatures are. . . Imagine Thief on a starship. It's a great game to play late at night with the lights off, if you have the guts. Although it makes my P-200 cry for mercy, the game still runs well. Undoubtedly one of the best games I've played in a long time. Highly, highly recommended! Give it a look! (That means you, A.T. and T.M.)

Pondering the Imponderable -- 3:40 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

I may have to go on vacation more often. In the whole week that I've been gone, I only got four pieces of spam. For a while there I was getting deluged with it. That's A Good Thing (tMS). While it has been a nice vacation, I'm looking forward to getting back home. Something about sleeping in your own bed is very nice.

I bought a couple of sweet guitar books yesterday to help teach my to play the Charvel Tele I bought this past week. Ironically enough, I bought it from the same store where I sold my bass about five years ago. Now I just have to save up for a Marshall 30W practice amp and the violence can REALLY commence :)

I've also been forced to use Internet Explorer 5.x this whole week, which is just about enough to make me want to throw myself on a rusty serrated spoon.
