Half-Life Map Pack

Planet Half-Life has put together their promised map pack from the PHL/Valve mapping contest. The maps look pretty slick and would make a good addition to your H-L library. The whole pack is a very reasonable 6.5M.

Pondering the Imponderable

'Scuse me whilst I nap. I had forgotten how difficult it is to teach a newborn the concepts of "day" and "night". Right now, he's got the two messed up. But he is so insufferably cute, he is quickly and easily forgiven. Plus we're trying to keep him awake during the day so hopefully he'll sleep tonight :)

On the website front, I'm working on a review of Shogo for Linux and various other things for my Haus of Shogo. I've got a bunch of things planned actually, but most of them will have to wait until next week as this week promises to be very busy. Life in the fast lane . . .

Generations Arena

PlanetQuake linked to a pretty cool team-based mod for Quake III Arena called Generations Arena. The five classes are the characters from the five id games: Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, Quake II, and Quake III Arena. Each will have the weapons and abilities from that particular game (for example, Doom will be able to run like the wind and Grunt will have a HyperBlaster).

It looks to be extremely cool. All the models, etc., are original. They resemble the ones from the original games but no models, etc., were just converted. They have a movie of the Doom class which is worth checking out. This mod might just change my mind about team-based gameplay.

Even better, they plan to include a remake of The Master's and my favorite Quake map, E1M8 "Ziggurat Vertigo".

The Master comments: Oh, yeah-oh yeah, ohyeah ohyeah :-)
