Anachronox Demo Released

ION Storm has released the demo for Anachronox. It's a tidy 92.3M, so you modemers might want to pack a lunch. You can get it from Eidos and 3D Gamers. Thanks Blue.

SoF Finished

I just managed to finish Soldier of Fortune. I mentioned to The Master that I really like SoF, although I can't really put my finger on why. Maybe it's the visceral nature of it all. To top it all off, it is the first game I've ever finished solely in Linux! SoF for Linux has been showing up for virtually nothing. I recommend you pick up a copy.

J.t.Qbe comments: Lately I've been seeing all the older Loki games for Linux for $9.95 at Electronics Boutique (and its online equivalent). Get 'em while they're hot!

WSJ on Windows XP

If you've been living in a cave, you may not have heard any of our rants about Windows XP. You may think that XP is going to be the greatest thing since QuickBASIC. Check out this here article from the Wall Street Journal which describes in detail the problems you'll see from Windows XP's new registration process. Lots of fun!

A.T. Hun comments: This article is nothing new to most computerphiles, but it is interesting to see even a mainstream publication like WSJ saying that XP activation stinks to high heaven. Maybe this will force M$ to change their ways (highly unlikely) or give casual users (read: non-geeks) the motivation to look elsewhere for an OS. I know I am.

Mission Accomplished

Well, my Linux-only day went as well as I expected. My only thoughts of rebooting came when I felt like playing Half-Life: Opposing Force for a bit. While my Linux uptime just passed one day, I've actually been running it for closer to 41 hours. I had to power-down the night before last due to a thunderstorm. Unfortunately today I'm going to need to reboot since I need to print some things out that I haven't figured out how to do in Linux yet. Soon . . .
