Handspring Price Drop -- 10:12 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

VisorCentral is reporting that Handspring has dropped the prices on most of its line of PDAs. Here's the skinny:

Edge: was $399, now $299
Platinum: was $249, now $199
Deluxe: was $199, now $169
Solo: was $149, now $129

The price for Prism remains at $399.

Must control the urge to buy an Edge . . .

Linux Nuking -- 4:44 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

Well, I "tested" a few too many things on my Linux box. It got to the point that it was easier to reinstall everything than to try to fix it. That's just as well, as there are some things I wanted to change anyway. Most notably is the fact that I am now using Red Hat's "high security" ipchains firewall. That's a good thing, except for the fact that I'm going to have to figure out how to punch holes for Licq and a few other things. I've been meaning to figure that out anyway.

UPDATE! I got things figured out for Licq and Quake III Arena. I'm sure a few minor other ones will crop up. I probably shouldn't enjoy reinstalling Linux as much as I do. That has to be some form of dementia.

Palm Desktop 4.0.1H Released -- 9:42 am CST, Update by A.T. Hun

Handspring has released Palm Desktop 4.0.1H for their Visor line of PalmOS-powered PDAs. Among the new features in 4.0.1H is the addition of Netscape support in the mail conduit. Hopefully, that will include Mozilla :) Thanks Visor Central.

One nice feature I've noticed about 4.x over 3.x is that you can set it up to display your alarms on your computer. There have been times when an alarm has gone off on my Visor, but I missed it because it was in the other room. Between my computer and my Visor, I should be all set.
