Two More Biting the Dust? -- 11:11 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

Voodoo Extreme and Something Awful both made posts today about their financial situations, such as they are. Both seem like they might be on the way out. While I feel bad about all this, I also remain amazed that people ever thought that cutting-and-pasting gaming news could be a full-time job for not one but, in the case of VE, a whole mess of people. Blame it on the dot com crash all you want, I just feel it's nothing more than a dose of reality.

Wolfie Impressions -- 1:44 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

I decided to give the Return to Castle Wolfenstein multiplayer test a spin online the other day. It was a lot of fun. I was on the Allies side. At first, the Axis gunners and snipers were making mincemeat of us. It was interesting to see how my team reacted to it. I switched to being a soldier with the rocket launcher thingy and took out the snipers. Then some of the others were able to break through the lines. I then switched to engineer and blew a hole in the wall. After getting killed I switched to being a soldier with the flamethrower. I managed to steal the plans, but was ganged up on before I could transmit them.

All in all, it was a lot of fun and everyone played as a pretty good team. My only complaint was that sometimes it was hard to tell who were Axis and who were Allies. I also will need a beefier machine. Most of the time I was getting around 15 fps. Not fun.

NFL Week #2 Final -- 1:35 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

The week was painful but I managed to escape with an 8-6 record for this week. Eeyore wasn't quite so fortunate at 6-8. Overall I am 19-10 (.655) and Eeyore is 14-15 (.483). Better times are certainly ahead. The good news is that my Fantasy League team, the Fightin' Wombats, busted out this week with 144 points and catapulted me into first place in my division. Of course, I just know that this means that I'll only get 65 next week.

id's Christian Antkow updated his .plan with word that id's auto-update servers will be down until later this afternoon for some maintenance. If you need to update, check the usual mirror sites for the appropriate files.
