NFL Week #5 So Far

It would figure. I follow up a great week with an awful one. Everything was topsy-turvy. Oh well, that's football 2001. Anyway, I am 6-7 and Eeyore is 7-6. If the Cowboys lose tonight, I'll have my first sub-.500 week ever. That would be Very Bad. Of course, it wouldn't be as bad as tonight's game is actually going to be.

Another Microsoft Security Hole

Yep, believe it or not: this report describes how Microsoft left a customer database openly available via the internet by putting it on an undisclosed IP address and assuming no one would find it. This from the company that wants you to store your personal information on its servers in its .NET future. Right. At very least, the bozo responsible for this latest breach should be fired.

The Master comments: Gosh, another completely idiotic security hole. Heck, this one even violates Microsoft's ENTIRE list of security practices. Oh, and conveniently it also violates their privacy policy. Anyone wanna make a few million on this lawsuit?

A.T. Hun comments: Sniff, sniff. The sweet smell of class-action lawsuits . . .

Nostalgia Lane

If you're older than 25 or so, you may remember the Mad Scientists' Club series of books. We had them in our school library and I read them many times. The books tell the adventures of the Mad Scientists' Club, a group of kids who use science for fun and profit--pulling pranks, saving lives, all kinds of fun.

For the last 10 years or so, the books have been scarcer than Microsoft competitors. Not any more! The first book, The Mad Scientists' Club has just been reprinted by Purple House Press and will be shipping by the end of the month. I ordered my copy yesterday and look forward to reading it again.

NFL Week #5

Here's Eeyore's picks since A.T. is late putting them up this weekend: 49er's, Panthers, Browns, Packers, Steelers, Vikings, Chargers, Rams, Bucs, Bears, Dolphins, Broncos, Raiders, Cowboys.

A.T. Hun comments: And sneaking in at the last minute (again), here are my picks: Bears, Rams, 49ers, Ravens, Saints, Browns, Chargers, Bucs, Chiefs, Vikings, Dolphins, Broncos, Raiders, Cowboys.
