Red Hat's MS Solution

Red Hat has proposed a new settlement on the Microsoft case. Instead of MS providing hardware and software, they would just provide more hardware. Red Hat would provide the software along with unlimited support through their Red Hat Network. Even though I know it would never fly, it is a great idea and would be a sweet way to really punish MS. Thanks Slashdot.

Which Quake Monster Are You?

OK, a little bit of holiday frivolity here. Take a poll and find out which Quake monster you are! I turned out to be Chthon. Tall and violent. Sweeeet. Thanks Blue.

The Master comments: Heh-I got the same thing. That's scary :-)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is Thanksgiving Day here in the United States. Despite our recent troubles, it is obvious that we have a lot to be thankful for. I would be REALLY thankful if the Lions could win today. From all of us at The Haus: Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy near-lethal quantities of turkey!

New Palm Desktop for WinXP

Handspring has released Palm Desktop 4.0.1 that includes support for Windows XP. It makes use of XP's multi-user support to allow for different sync settings for different users. Thanks Visor Central.

Not that you asked, but I use JPilot to sync my Visor in Linux.

Wolfenstein at Babbage's

I was down at the local Babbage's this afternoon and saw the regular and collector's editions. Yikes! They aren't cheap, but Babbage's never has sales either. I'd guess that Best Buy will have it on sale next week or the week after.

Serious Sam Linux Port

Ryan "icculus" Gordon sent Linux Games an update report on his port of Serious Sam to Linux. The report consisted of this screenshot. Hey, it's running!

Cloud on Wolfie

HomeLan caught up with id's Kevin Cloud to talk about Return to Castle Wolfenstein now that it is done and in stores. Here's a bit on a single player demo:
HomeLAN - Will a single player demo for the game be released soon and if so what will it contain?

Kevin Cloud - There will be a demo released, but we haven’t made the final decisions on content or schedule quite yet. Gray Matter is still recovering from their final push. I think we’re all going to enjoy our Thanksgiving weekend and get back to work on it next week.
Thanks Blue's News.

JKII Chat Log

MGON posted a log of the recent chat with the designers of Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. If the game is half as good as it sounds, it should be incredible. Thanks Blue.

Thanksgiving Football

The Detroit Free Press has an article on the Detroit Lions' 1962 Thanksgiving Day game against the Green Bay Packers. The Pack came in undefeated and went on to win the NFL championship. The Lions thumped the Pack that day 26-14, sacking Bart Starr 11 times. Here's a picture of the Lions giving Starr a group hug:

Lions sack Starr

I hope that by some strange miracle of fate, the Lions can pull a similar upset tomorrow.

On that note, with a great sense of fear and trepidation, I pick the Lions over the Packers and the Broncos over the Cowboys on Thursday. It'd be nice if the Lions could beat the Pack on the Pack's last game under the artificial sky of the Silverdome.

The Master comments: Welp, with the help of Justin, Eeyore has made her picks for the big turkey day celebration: Packers, and Cowboys. Let the games (and massive digestive disorders) begin!
