Quake II in Text Mode

Be sure not to miss Text Mode Quake II. If you've already missed it, be sure to check out its father, Textmode Quake by my coworker Bob Z. Some things just ain't right.

100 Kilocounts

I just noticed that our counter went over 100,000. It doesn't count individual page hits. It's supposed to be "intelligent" although I think it is rather conservative, judging from the log files. At any rate, it is a nice milestone for us at The Haus. Thanks for your support of The Haus. Anyone for seven digits?

J.t.Qbe comments: Wow! I was wondering if we'd make 100K by 2002. Accuracy may be iffy, but it's a milestone nonetheless.

My Wishlist

Since my hardware upgrade has been delayed indefinitely (see this article for the details), there are a few things I would like to see happen before I do actually upgrade. Here's my list:
  1. A motherboard that actually uses the new Duron/Athlon thermal diode for better heat detection
  2. A motherboard with the speed of a VIA chipset without the AGP, USB, DMA transfer, and various other weird problems they've faced. I don't feel like trying a couple dozen settings in the bios, different video drivers, different 4-in-1 drivers over and over again until the board works. It's enough to make me consider an Intel 845D DDR board. They may not be as fast, but they work!
  3. Plenty of USB ports. Two won't cut it. Four is getting warm. USB 2.0 would be nice too.
  4. It's got to play well with Linux.
While I'm dreaming, I'd like a pony.

Boring Day

Since there's not much else going on, I thought I'd grab Relnev's port of the Quake 2 source and compile it. There's something kinda cool about saying "Hey! I'm compiling Quake 2!" I'm really looking forward to seeing some of the cool things the community does with the source. And if you were worried about rampant cheating, here's a news flash. There's been rampant cheating in Q2 for a long time.

NFL Week #16

Only one week left after this one! Here are my kill0r piX0rs: Ravens, Jets, Dolphins, Bears, Panthers, 49ers, Packers, Titans, Jaguars, Rams, Steelers, Eagles, Chargers, Raiders, Saints. For some reason, I don't feel terribly good about these picks. I did, however, find this website--Recovering Lions Fan.com--that is helping me deal with this season.

The Master comments: Eeyore's picks: Ravens, Rams, Packers, Titans, 49er's, Cardinals, Jaguars, Jets, Steelers, Dolphins, Bears, Eagles, Seahawks, Raiders, Saints.
