Be Inc. Sues Microsoft

The Register reports that Be Inc. is suing Microsoft for destruction of its business. Juicy details. I found BeOS for a few bucks at the local Borders Outlet store and it's a neat OS, but it's tough to compete when Microsoft owns the desktop. Apparently Microsoft destroyed Be's last chances. Bill Gates, you're evil.

Writable DVD Standard

Is that an oxymoron? At any rate, Matsushita issued this press release, announcing Blu-Ray discs. Co-developed by Hitachi, LG, Matsushita, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, and Thomson, the new disc can hold 27G of information. Current DVDs can hold 4.7G. If this standard actually takes hold (since there are multiple incompatible writable DVD formats) it'd be great. I also wonder what kind of "content protection" might be attached to this. I guess I'll file this under "show me, don't tell me." Thanks Slashdot.
