Pondering the Imponderable

Whew! My Red Wings finally got off the schneid and beat the Canucks in Vancouver 3-1. Hasek actually looked like the Dominator again. Hopefully they have things turned around now. On top of it all the Pistons pummelled the Raptors in their first playoff game and the Lions drafted a potential franchise quarterback. Overall, a good week for my favorite teams.

Freelancer Preview

Computer and Video Games posted a preview of Freelancer, the upcoming space trading/combat game from Digital Anvil and Microsoft. The game has always seemed very interesting to me, especially as a former fan of Elite. My concern is that it isn't going to be everything it should have been since it has been in the works almost as long as Duke Nukem Forever. Thanks VE.

Sun Rethinks Solaris/x86

A few months ago we reported that Sun was canning further development of Solaris for the Intel. Well, now they're rethinking that plan after receiving a lot of, ahem, user feedback. Maybe we'll get Solaris 9 for Intel after all! Too bad Compaq/HP/whatever isn't as willing to listen to its VMS user base.
