Today is System Administrator Appreciation Day, your annual chance to thank the IT guys/gals/beings who keep your systems and networks running. You can read the BBC's take on it here , and if you're an admin who doesn't get any appreciation from your users today check out the BOFH archive for ways to get back at them.

I'd like to know if anyone actually gets any appreciation today. My manager was in Michigan last week and took me out to lunch since I was in town, so I guess that'll do.

Feds Bust Adelphia Bosses -- 11:28 am CST, Update by A.T. Hun

The Feds have arrested CEO John Rigas, his sons, and other Adelphia Communications executives and charged them with basically looting the company. In addition to criminal charges, lawsuits are also being brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Rigas is best known in the sporting world as the former owner of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres. The team is now under the control of the NHL itself, much like MLB is running the Montreal Expos. Looks like the federal government is making good on its promise to put the hammer down on these scumbags.

I got a lucky break the other day and scored the last XL Detroit Red Wings 2002 Stanley Cup Championship T-shirt (official parade edition) that the store had. It's very hard to find Red Wings stuff here in Wisconsin. The few who are hockey fans root for the Wings or the Blackhawks. What little merchandise there is is quickly snapped up.
