RtCW: Enemy Territory Canned -- 2:28 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun
Planet Wolfenstein got the surprising news that id and Activision have decided to cancel Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Here's a snip from the press release:
id Software and Activision announced today they are canceling the retail release of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Despite a strong effort from talented developers, the single player portion of the game did not progress as anticipated. Canceling the release was a difficult decision made in the best interest of the Wolfenstein franchise and fans. However, we remain excited about the progress and direction of Enemy Territory multiplayer. Over the next several months the focus of our development will be to complete the multiplayer portion of Enemy Territory and provide it as a free downloadable expansion to Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
At least RtCW owners will still get some free multiplayer goodness out of this. I hope they manage to get bot support working.
Happy Birthday A.T. Hun -- 11:02 am CST, Update by J.t.Qbe
I don't know how, but somehow I'm sensing that it's A.T.'s birthday. Happy Birthday! Did you ever think that 40 would get here so soon?
A.T. Hun comments: Give me five more years yet :)
J.t.Qbe comments: Well, I'd be happy to take you to Gasthaus zur Krone for a Salvator, but apparently Krone doesn't exist any more. No Krone, no Sherlock's--what's this world coming to?
Hullie Gets His 700th -- 12:22 am CST, Update by A.T. Hun
I got another birthday present! The Red Wings' Brett Hull scored his 700th career goal, snapping a seven-game goaless streak and the Wings' six-game winless streak. Hopefully this will put their rough patch to an end and they can get back to playing championship-caliber hockey.

Mozilla 1.3 Beta Soon? -- 9:28 am CST, Update by A.T. Hun
I've been keeping an eye on the Mozilla newsgroups to see when 1.3 beta might be coming out. From what I can see the only remaining bug is no longer considered to block the beta, so we should see a release soon. I'm eager to try it because of its automagic spam filtering. I'm probably up to a 20-to-1 ratio of spam to real mail. That doesn't even include stupid things that certain people insist on forwarding to me. Anyway, I'll let you know when 1.3 beta comes out.
