NWN 1.28 Patch

Bioware has released the 1.28 patch for Neverwinter Nights. Actually, nothing looks very thrilling in the changelog. As usual, use the "Update" button in the launcher to get the patch.

Mozilla and Spam Filtering

One of the big reasons I wanted to get Mozilla 1.3 beta is for the spam filtering. You teach it by marking messages as junk or not junk. Eventually, it learns and can judge for itself. I've been using it for about a day now. Of seven spam emails I received this morning, two were not identified as junk, five were, and one "real" email was mistakenly identified as junk (a Mandrake security bulletin). Not bad for only one day's training. Check this page for information on how Mozilla does all this and this page which serves as the basis for the concept.

The Master comments: I'm still a Win32 user (yeah, I know, I'm just an evil minion or something :-) and I'm trying out an app called K9, which so far is looking like a nice little spam killer. It's based on the same concepts as the Mozilla spam filters. I'll let you know how it works out.

RtCW: Enemy Territory Canned

Planet Wolfenstein got the surprising news that id and Activision have decided to cancel Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Here's a snip from the press release:

id Software and Activision announced today they are canceling the retail release of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Despite a strong effort from talented developers, the single player portion of the game did not progress as anticipated. Canceling the release was a difficult decision made in the best interest of the Wolfenstein franchise and fans. However, we remain excited about the progress and direction of Enemy Territory multiplayer. Over the next several months the focus of our development will be to complete the multiplayer portion of Enemy Territory and provide it as a free downloadable expansion to Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

At least RtCW owners will still get some free multiplayer goodness out of this. I hope they manage to get bot support working.

Happy Birthday A.T. Hun

I don't know how, but somehow I'm sensing that it's A.T.'s birthday. Happy Birthday! Did you ever think that 40 would get here so soon?

A.T. Hun comments: Give me five more years yet :)

J.t.Qbe comments: Well, I'd be happy to take you to Gasthaus zur Krone for a Salvator, but apparently Krone doesn't exist any more. No Krone, no Sherlock's--what's this world coming to?

Hullie Gets His 700th

I got another birthday present! The Red Wings' Brett Hull scored his 700th career goal, snapping a seven-game goaless streak and the Wings' six-game winless streak. Hopefully this will put their rough patch to an end and they can get back to playing championship-caliber hockey.

Mozilla 1.3 Beta Released

The Mozilla team gave me a nice birthday present and released Mozilla 1.3 beta. You can check out the release notes and download it here. I'll let you know how the spam filtering stuff works.
