Car Shoppinj Et Al.

There are many things that I enjoy in life and shopping for cars is about not 15 of them. I need to get a larger vehicle, *gasp* a minivan, to tow my group of Hunlets around. It's interesting how some car salesmen are genuinely helpful, some make you feel like you are wasting their time (something I definitely won't do in the future!), and some who are covered in a thin layer of slime. I'll be happy when this whole process is over.

In a related note, HardOCP linked to this article on How Stuff Works about the various computer systems in cars. Rather interesting, even though I'm more of a gear-head wanna-be.

Mercifully, I got my taxes done tonight. I'm actually getting more back than I thought I would. I'm glad I didn't have to pay in, but I don't like getting a lot back. I love my country, but I don't feel like giving the government an interest-free loan. If everything works out right, I should be able to put a major dent in my remaining credit-card debt. That should make new van payments less painful.

J.t.Qbe comments: I have a feeling that I'm going to be doing some car shoppinj in the near future too: it looks like the Qbemobile is in its last days, since it's now bleeding both oil and power steering fluid. Not looking forward to the shoppinj; not looking forward to having a car payment again. I did finish my taxes last night, though, and will be getting a large chunk back. That'll help with the downpayment, at least.

Updated UT2K3 Demo

Epic has released an updated demo of Unreal Tournament 2003. This new version sports a version number of 2206, which apparently makes it seven better than the recently released 2199 patch. Coincidentally, they finally have links to the 2199 patch and its accompanying changelog.

Speaking of UT2K3, I wonder when that Epic bonus pack is going to hit the 'Net?

Tired of DOCs? Try Antiword

I recently discovered this clever little utility called Antiword. It strips out all the formatting and associated garbage from Word DOC files and leaves you with the contents in plain text. Very handy for all those idiots people who send me DOC attachments for no particular reason.
