JK3 Confirmed

Raven's Kenn Hoekstra and others have confirmed that Jedi Knight III is indeed in the works. What is not known is what the exact title of the game is going to be or when it will hit the stores. Dual-wielding lightsabers sound like fun to me! Hmm, maybe I'll have to cry to Mr. Hoekstra about a Linux client :)

New NVIDIA Linux Drivers

NVIDIA has released the 1.0-4349 drivers for their products in Linux. The new drivers include a slick new installer with an updating feature. It works very slick. Now they just need it to make sure your XF86Config-4 file is edited properly. These were actually easier to install than their Windows drivers.

Five Years of Mozilla

It was five years ago today that Netscape released the source to Communicator 5, which later became known as Mozilla / Netscape 6. Mozillazine has some additional links from that time. Tempus fugit.

JK3 Screenies

JediKnightII.net posted some screenshots of Jedi Knight III from a German games mag. The shots look pretty sweet, showing off a female Twi'lek battling away with two lightsabers and a double (Darth Maul-style) lightsaber. Very cool. I would like to be able to play as my favorite Rastafarian Jedi, Kit Fisto.

YESH!

I just wrote out the check that officially makes me and my family credit card debt-free! A little more than a year and a half ago, my wife and I dedicated ourselves to getting the stupid things paid off. We had built up quite a balance. As of right now, we don't have one. Now this big trick is keeping ourselves from falling back into it. Of course, we also have to figure out what we're going to do with an extra two or three hundred dollars every month. I'm sure we'll figure it out.

J.t.Qbe comments: Congrats, A.T.! It must be very nice to get off the credit card ripoff wagon. We're headed that way ourselves.

JK3 Info?

JediKnightII.net posted some information from a German gaming mag, claiming to be about Jedi Knight III. I'm going to file this under "I'll believe it when I see it." It sounds awfully ambitious (and awfully cool).

Bleh

First: dang there's no good gaming news. It's like the Sahara in gaming news right now. Pft.

Second: There is nothing more fun that thinking your child has chicken pox, then realizing it's actually something else, THEN having a doctor tell you it's hives, and probably an allergic reaction to amoxycillin. Swelling hands and monster red marks all over your child do not make for good weekends.

J.t.Qbe comments: This week's (last week's--whatever) gaming news is Galactic Civilizations, a turn-based space strategy game which many are saying is what MOO3 should have been. Others call it "Civilization in space". The MOO comparison makes me cautious: I loved Stars! (and am still playing it) but didn't care for MOO1. Still, it looks and sounds pretty good; demo is due out in April.
