NFL Week #4 Picks

In a vain effort to salvage what is left of my pride after last week's debacle, I present my picks for this weekend's games! Rams, 49ers, Steelers, Redskins, Jaguars, Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Raiders (because I have to pick one of the two teams), Cowboys, Panthers, Broncos, Colts, Packers.

The Master comments: Eeyore's picks: Rams, Bengals, Texans, Redskins, Bills, Vikings, Steelers, Chiefs, Raiders, Falcons, Cowboys, Broncos, Colts, Packers

Trying Out BitTorrent

I finally got a reason to try out BitTorrent. I used it to download the first Slackware 9.1 ISO. It took longer than it would have from a fast mirror, but it was still pretty fast, given that it had just come out. My only problem with it was getting wxPython to install properly. Here's a hint: don't just do the standard ./configure;make;make install. Read the README.1st.txt file and follow the instructions. You'll thank me later.

UT2K4 on Linux and Mac

Epic's Mark Rein made this post on the Atari forums, officially confirming that Unreal Tournament 2004 will run natively in Linux and on the Mac. Here's the Linux bits:

UT2004 will support Linux (both client and server) as well. As with UT2003, Linux support will be included in the box with UT2004. This time we'll make sure it gets mentioned on the box.

Thanks Linux Games.

Slackware 9.1 Released

Patrick J. Volkerding has announced the release of Slackware 9.1. The biggest change is a new tool to help Slackware users make sure they have all the requirements before installing a new package. They also moved up to i486 as the default instead of i386. I'll probably stick with 9.0 for a while since I have no burning reason to upgrade at this point. It's been rock solid for me. Thanks Slashdot.

Underdark Chat

NWN Stratics posted an edited chat log of an IRC Q&A session with various Bioware representatives on Hordes of the Underdark, the next expansion for Neverwinter Nights. In a related note, Bioware also posted information on the Shifter, a new prestige class for Druids that will appear in HotU. Cool stuff.

Finished Jedi Academy

I just finished the single player portion of Jedi Academy. I played every mission, even the ones you don't "have" to play. I found the whole thing to be rather enjoyable. I don't think I'll ever grow weary of dicing up Stormtroopers and dark Jedi into tiny bite-sized pieces. The saber staff is almost too fun, especially when duelling two dark Jedi on either side of you. I'll have to start up a new game . . . and maybe this time I'll go to the dark side. I'll write up a full review when I get the chance. Basically, if you liked Jedi Outcast, you'll love Jedi Academy.

I also want to try out some of the multiplayer stuff, especially the new Siege mode, if I can find an open server. Power duel sounds like fun too. I'll have to give CTF another shot too, although I really never played that much in Jedi Outcast.

NWN 1.32 Patch Released

Bioware has released the 1.32 patch for Neverwinter Nights. There is a separate patch for those who also have Shadows of Undrentide installed. Windows users would do well to use the auto-updater. Linux users, go to that link and choose the patch you need.
