Looney Tunes: Let The Whining Begin

Yesterday I stopped by Target and picked up the Looney Tunes Golden Collection. I've only had time to watch about 10 cartoons from the Bugs Bunny disc, but have been enjoying it so far. And then there are the commentaries and documentaries. And then there are 3 more discs. My only complaint is the packaging: the DVDs are held so tightly that you feel like you're going to snap them in half just to get them out. I may pull them all out and put them in CD cases--sad.

That's a minor complaint compared to some of the complainers out there who are complaining because their favorites aren't included. Umm, hello? There are over 1100 Looney Tunes cartoons. The Golden Collection contains 56. Did you really think that you'd get all your favorites in this set? Quit whining and enjoy the show, you losers! Sheesh.

A.T. Hun comments: I read on the /. comments that they deliberately left some favorites out like What's Opera, Doc? to have another collection in case this one sells well (which it almost certainly will). I was very happy to hear that all of them are uncensored too.

FreeBSD 4.9 Released

I'm getting into the nasty habit of downloading/installing software just before the next release: I've just gotten FreeBSD 4.8 set up and working, and now they've released 4.9. Oh well, I guess there are worse things than having new versions of free, cool operating systems! Get it and enjoy.

Diablo II 1.10 Patch Released

Well, if this isn't the seventh sign, it's at least the sixth-and-a-half sign. Bioware has finally released the 1.10 patch for Diablo II. You can download it and get all the details at Battle.Net or update through the auto-updater.

NFL Week #8 Final

Now that I'm finally back, I can update our NFL stats. Eeyore pushed ahead by one, narrowly edging me out. She was 11-3 while I was 10-4. Serves me right for picking the Lions. Anyway, year-to-date that makes her 78-38 (.672) while I am 77-39 (.664). Thankfully, my Fightin' Wombats came back to win 117-111 in my fantasy football league. I remain atop the division at 6-2.

Now if I could only get this stupid cold to go away (far, far away).

UT2K3 Community Pack Released

The Unreal Tournament 2003 Community Bonus Pack has been released for download. There are more details in this Atari forum post. The release is available in a 142 mb UMOD format, or a 130 mb zip file.
This compilation began as a small project. A few of the Unreal community's best level designers got together to release a small pack of their best work to the community. As the time went on, the project grew into something far more significant, with more and more of the best Unreal talent out there joining the team. The map count went from a small handful to a fully-fledged professional-level bonus pack. With all this pack now complete, the team has decided to work on a number of future projects together to produce high quality work that will get noticed throughout the design community.

What's Up, Doc?

What's up is the newly-released Looney Tunes Golden Collection, 4 DVDs full of 56 Looney Tunes favorites and lots and lots of extra bits. I just got home from Target with mine; now I just need to find time to watch 4+ hours of cartoons!

The Master comments: You'll have to put up a review when you're done -- I'm a Looney Tunes fan from way back :-)

A.T. Hun comments: Suffice it to say, that's on my Christmas list, along with the Rocky and Bullwinkle season one set (which I'm also planning on getting for my dad).

Another Deus Ex 2 Interview

Etoychest has an interview with Warren Spector online, talking some more about the game and the design decisions that make the game new and cool. This is a very good interview, if you liked the original Deus Ex this new story looks very promising.

Another post on the Ion Storm forums indicates that the new Deus Ex will not have an SDK release, so for those who want to mod in the new game system, you're out of luck.
