Q2 Server Exploits -- 10:02 am CST, Update by The Master

A post over at Blues indicate the presence of some major security exploit issues with the Quake 2 server binaries. Looks like more buffer overflow vulnerabilities. This seems to affect every game based on the Quake 2 server source: Anachronox, Daikatana, Heretic II, Kingpin, SOF, and Sin. While none of the original game manufacturers intend to fix this (Q2 server source is open-source now), if you run a Q2 server you can get patched binaries at the R1Q2 website.

Pondering the Imponderable -- 10:35 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

I'm really glad that the election is only six days away. I'm about to snap. All of these ads on T.V. and radio, combined with the pre-recorded phone calls are driving me up a wall. Add to that accusations of voter fraud, computer voting snafus, etc. and this is shaping up to make the 2000 Florida debacle seem like a trip to the Magic Kingdom. I'd better make sure I stock up on gin.

In slightly happier news, congratulations to the Red Sox for winning the World Series. You've now graduated from "Loveable Loser" to "Junior Yankees." Now what willing millions of Boston fans do without anything to whine about?
