Test Your Game Store Clerks

Electronic Gaming Monthly sent a person to various gaming stores to see the answers that the clerks might give. Some were good, some were horrible, some were just snotty. Go figure, the EB Games guy was the most obnoxious.

icculus .plan Update

Ryan "icculus" Gordon updated his .plan again (scroll to the bottom), talking about some of the things he was able to get running on Intel-based Macs with relatively little effort. It seems that there were as many changes that needed to be made because of gcc4 as there was due to the switch in architecture. Of course, developing for Linux gave him a leg up there.

The Master comments: What I like about Icculus is that he is a programmer's programmer. He doesn't screw around with a lot of superfluous BS, getting right to the point. Excellent info in this .plan update.

NWN 1.66 Patch Released

Bioware has released the 1.66 patch for Neverwinter Nights and its two expansions. You can view the changelog while you are downloading the patch for Windows, Linux, or the Mac. The instructions are a bit confusing on what patch to download. If you have Hordes of the Underdark (HotU) installed with or without Shadows of Undrentide (SoU), get the HotU patch. If you only have SoU, get the SoU patch. If you have neither expansion, get the original NWN patch.

Update! Something is seriously messed up with the Linux tarball. Not a fun thing to find out after downloading a 150+M patch. Hopefully a fixed version will be up soon.

Update #2! New tarballs have been uploaded for Linux. Now it's "only" a ~78M download.
