Anandtech: Xbox 360 vs. PS3 -- 7:35 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

Anandtech posted a very in-depth and technical article comparing the hardware of the Xbox 360 and PS3. Their point isn't to declare a winner--especially since neither console will be available for months. The point is to show how both Microsoft and Sony set out to build a console from the ground up. They cover the advantages and trade-offs in both designs. It's a very interesting but definitely not light read.

Nvidia Driver Update -- 6:30 pm CST, Update by The Master

Nvidia has released version 77.72 ForceWare drivers. Here's the major change list:

• WHQL Candidate
• Support for GeForce 7800 GTX and GeForce 6200 AGP
• Improved SLI performance and broader SLI validation and optimizations for the latest games
• Compatible with Intel and AMD dual core CPUs
• HDTV Display Setup Wizard with preview mode
• Fullscreen HDTV underscan control panel lets users optimize their high definition television for Windows desktops
• Allows end users to keep or remove old driver application profiles when the driver is updated
• Improved TurboCache^TM performance
• Support for inverse 2-2 pulldown detection and correction when using the the PureVideo Decoder
• More control when creating custom timings for digital flat panels
• nView Desktop Manager support during Windows Remote Desktop sessions
• Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0c and OpenGL® 2.0 support

A.T. Hun comments: Back in my bad, old Windows days, I always found that WHQL drivers offered the worst performance and stability. I wondered if it was sort of like Letterman's joke: "We spell 'quality' with a capital K."
