NFL Week #14

Whelp, I'm actually going to my first NFL game tomorrow night. I was given tickets to see the Packers-Lions tilt at Lambeau Field. I'm excited, but also afraid of freezing to death. Anyway, here are my picks. The differences between Eeyore and myself are in bold: Patriots, Bengals, Titans, Vikings, Raiders, Bears, Panthers, Colts, Giants, Redskins, Seahawks, Chiefs, Broncos, Chargers, Packers, Falcons. The picks seem pretty easy this week, so that means that I'm doomed. One of us will end up a game ahead.

Pondering the Imponderable

In case anyone wonders why I've been maintaining radio silence recently is because I've been investigating a non-computer-related side-project of mine. I've got an old Charvel Model 7 guitar that I want to completely rework. It was rather haphazardly repainted by the previous owner, who also installed a new bridge pickup in a rather crude manner. The neck will probably need to be replaced too. So here's the plan: completely disassemble the guitar, strip and repaint it, install new pickups (Fender Texas Special Teles) and hardware, and install a new neck if necessary. Basically, it's going to be a nice project for my wife and me to work on. Everything will begin towards spring when I can work outside without freezing to death.

In actual computing/gaming news, I have been hitting the Bejeweled 2 crack pipe on my Palm TX. Just what I needed--another reason to use my PDA! My wife even asked for it for Christmas to use on my old Tungsten E. She basically has to be constantly recharging since she plays it so much. It's a classic case of simple, straightforward, ever-changing gameplay.

Winpooch Watchdog

For those of you still running Windows full-time, here is an interesting Sourceforge project: Winpooch Watchdog. This is a package designed to replicate the anti-install functionality of some of the major antispyware packages out there. It looks very comprehensive. I'm going to try it out and see if it's any good.

A.T. Hun comments: People use Windows? Huh!
