GPL3 and DRM

Ars Technica takes a look at a draft version of the Gnu Public License (GPL) v3. It contains some very strong words forbidding Digital Rights Management (DRM) in an GPL v3 software. There are concerns about what would happen if Linux itself would go to the GPL v3. I think that question is moot. The kernel is licensed under GPL v2. Relicensing it would take the approval of every contributor ever to the kernel which would be practically impossible. I guess I once again lean with Linus Torvalds. I don't like DRM, but I don't want to make Linux nothing more than an ideological statement against DRM.

MythBusters: The Lost Episodes

Okay, it's not really lost episodes, but more like outtakes from some of the episodes that aired. Good stuff. Thanks Slashdot.

Weather on Your Palm

There are a lot of real-time weather options out there for those of us with smartphones or wireless-enabled PDAs. There's a new one out now called PDA Animated Weather (PAW). Based at the University of Wisconsin, you can have access to just about as much weather information as your little heart could desire. You can see a bevy of radar and satellite maps, animate them, and even zoom in on them. A cool addition for me is real-time Wisconsin road conditions from WisDOT. Just add the above link to your phone or PDA's web browser and you should be good to go. Thanks Palm Infocenter.
