Monty Python on P.B.S.

The Daily Llama got word that Public Broadcasting stations in the U.S. will be showing Monty Python's Personal Best starting in on February 22. The Personal Best series are DVD sets contain each Python's favorite skits plus some new material. Check your local P.B.S. affiliate for all the details.

Pondering the Imponderable

Today I have completed my 38th orbit around Sol. Nothing has really changed, but I still feel weird. I'm not sure why. We got a new puppy last week. We can't leave him alone yet so we just had a very low-key celebration here with my family. Maybe I'll have a celebratory martini later on. Gin. Extra-dry.

Lego Star Wars II Announced

PS2.IGN has an interview with Lucasarts' David Perkinson about Lego Star Wars II, coming this fall to your PS2, Xbox, GameCube, GBA, PSP, PC, and DS (whew!). This one follows the original trilogy and includes some sweet new features. Blowing up the Death Star in a landspeeder sounds like fun to me! I know that I'm going to hear some high-pitched whining for this one.

More Patent BS

AT&T Warns Apple, Others, Of Patent Infringement. That's right. Now AT&T has joined the evil patent BS club. I still wish the Blackberry network would be shut down in the US, just so Congress would finally see that software patents are evil.

A.T. Hun comments: I get really tired of overly-broad ideas being patented even if there is no real-life implementation. The fact remains that the tech sector will be in danger of litigating itself into oblivion. From a conspiracy theory standpoint, I'm sure that the timing of this threat and the AT&T merger is purely coincidental.

BLEH!

Well, this week has been rather momentus for the family. We actually broke down and bought a house. Good grief. And I thought income taxes generated a lot of paperwork.

Thankfully, I've moved so much in my life that moving is a subconscious action at this point. Eeyore, on the other hand, is completely wired up at the prospect. Heh :-)

New Games on Steam

There's a news post on Steam indicating that S.C.S - Dangerous Waters™ and Space Empires IV Deluxe have been released for download. I am planning to take a look at SE IV myself. Dangerous Waters could be interesting as well, but I'm a bit more leary of that one because most Naval simulations I've played have been very painful, and it's twice as expensive. After my good luck with Darwinia, I'm willing to take a shot at another $19 game from Steam.

Upgrade Firefox!

According to CERT, you should consider getting your Firefox browser upgraded to 1.5.0.1 ASAP. The bugs that were fixed in that release are fairly critical, and affect several Mozilla products. According to CERT's warning, this also affects Thunderbird, so I hope a patch gets released for that shortly.
