Pondering the Imponderable -- 10:48 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun
OK, when did they start naming snowstorms? Apparently snowstorm Catherine is about to wreak her awful fury on this neck of the woods. I've head anything from four to twelve inches. There's a joke in there, but I'll let you write your own. I hope my snowthrower is up to the task. I'm beginning to wonder if the old thing is on the way out. It sure beats shoveling (to say nothing of the inevitable heart attack I'd have).

Access Linux Platform Announced -- 6:33 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun
Access, the company that bought out PalmSource, announced its Access Linux Platform for PDAs and mobile phones. Linux Devices has all the details. Basically, it will allow you to run PalmOS, Java, GTK, and other applications on a Linux-based system. If they can combine the simplicity of PalmOS with the power and stability of Linux, it'll be a real winner. This is a long ways off though. The SDK isn't supposed to be out until the end of the year with devices coming out next year.
Nexuiz 1.5 Released -- 10:51 am CST, Update by The Master
The Nexuiz team has released version 1.5 of the Nexuiz port of the Quake 1 game source. I've toyed around with the 1.2 version, and it is fairly neat. I will give this one a spin tonight and check out the changes. Here's the short list:
- Many new gamemodes, new maps, new characters
- "Instant Action" button in menu
- More Advanced AI
- Redo of all the character skins (pant/shirt color like Quake1)
- Completely new menu
- Majority of sound effects redone
- Smoother netcode
- Engine optimizations
