NWN Infinite Dungeons

Bioware has released an interesting new premium module for Neverwinter Nights called Infinite Dungeons. It randomly creates a dungeon for you, stocking it with monsters appropriate for your level. Thus you can play it with any level character, although they suggest 5-30. It takes a while at character creation and when you enter a new level, but otherwise it plays like any other module. Pretty slick, especially since the aging engine was never intended to do something like this. It's very hack-and-slash though, as one would expect. Not that that's a bad thing :)

Jpeg Patent Challenged

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has rejected parts of the jpeg patent which may set the stage for the entire patent to be rejected. Remember that Forgent, who holds the patent, threatened to sue the makers of digital cameras, scanners and anything else that used jpeg to collect royalties. Prior art has come to light which invalidates their claims. Good thing too.
