RIP: Jim Baen -- 3:48 pm CST, Update by The Master

Sad news from the realm of Sci-fi publishing, as news came that Jim Baen, owner/publisher of Baen Books, died from a massive stroke on June 28. Baen books has been the source of much of my reading material for the past 10 years. He will be missed.

That's right, it's official: Prey has gone gold. Now, if Duke Nuk'em Forever ever manages to ship, it might get awful cold in hell. I'd also start scanning the skies for the flying pigs . . .

We've been watching From the Earth to the Moon as our nightly relaxation for the last couple of days. This is an excellent series. Eeyore got me the platinum edition, so we've got a bonus sixth DVD of additional footage, but the series itself has been excellent. I really enjoyed the "Spider" episode discussing the Apollo 9 mission and the building of the LM.
