Bo Schembechler, Dead at 77

Former Michigan football coach and permanent Michigan icon, Glenn "Bo" Schembechler, died of heart failure this morning. He was 77. I grew up watching Bo coach the Wolverines from the time that I was little until I was a senior in college. Those classic conflicts between his U of M squad and Woody Hayes' OSU team and the stuff of legend. It is more than a little ironic that he would die on the day before the classic U of M/OSU tilt. We'll miss you, Bo. Rest in peace.

PS3 Sighting

I was at Wal-Mart today and saw a notice that they did not receive their promised shipment of 10 60G PS3s. I did, however, see one in a display case and saw someone playing a game on it. The graphics looked pretty cool. Yes, I want one. No, I'm not going to get one until at least the first price drop, which could be some time given the supply shortages. By the way, if you are paying thousands of dollars for one on eBay, please send me some of this money that you have free to throw around like this.

NHL on Google Video

I just found out that Google Video has all NHL games for viewing or downloading. Right now, it's even advertising-free. The games seem to make it to the site about a day after the fact. That's pretty cool, since I will be able to see less than a quarter of the Red Wings' games on Versus and NBC. The NHL may do some dopey things, but they've done a lot to embrace technology and, best of all, provide it to their fans for free.
