NFL Week #17

Well, here are the last picks for the year. Good riddance. What a weird season and what a worthless showing by my Lions. Talk about a candidate for contraction. Anyway: Redskins, Rams, Saints, Texans, Cowboys, Chiefs, Titans, Jets, Bengals, Seahawks, Colts, Eagles, Ravens, Chargers, Broncos, Bears.

The Master comments: The final week of differences: Packers, Patriots.

Darkness over Daggerford 1.2

I forgot to mention that there has been a new update to the Darkness over Daggerford module for NWN, bringing it up to 1.2. Unfortunately, you have to start all over again if you were using a previous version. I completed this module the other day and I have to say that it's the most fun I've had playing NWN in a long time. It's well worth the download. I'm even going through it a second time with a different character, partially because I really wanted to and partially to do the other side-quests that I never finished the first time around. My only gripe is that at the beginning there's a lot of "Go over there and talk to that person" stuff. That's a minor quibble though.

Lego Star Wars II

In an almost unforgivable oversight, we didn't get Lego Star Wars II for Christmas. So I picked that one up for our PS2 on the 26th. It does a good job of building on everything you loved from the previous game. I like the addition of bounty hunters as a separate "class" of characters and the removal of high jumpers. The levels are much bigger than the first game. The ship battles are no longer on rails, making them a lot more fun. Yeah, like you wouldn't want to bring down a Lego AT-AT in a Lego Snowspeeder. The only downside of this game so far is that I can't keep my wife away from the PS2 now.

Good Riddance

I know that this isn't standard Haus fare, but this is big news. Saddam Hussein was executed today by hanging. Justice has been served. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Pondering the Imponderable

I just bought a belated Christmas present for myself--a new power supply for my main box. I came home last night and heard a strange noise emanating from my box. I stopped all the fans I could, but the noise was still there. I powered down and then powered it back up. The noise came back. I looked at the power supply fan and it was barely turning. Eventually it did get up to full speed and then the noise went away. Rather than wait for the magic smoke to come out, I bought a new 400W supply. Thankfully, that's an easy (and relatively inexpensive) fix.

Update! Forgot to mention that I thought my PDA had died yesterday. I ran the battery down and plugged it in for a couple of hours and checked to see if it worked. I tried to use it yesterday and it wouldn't power on. When I got home I plugged it in again and it came on, but it said it only had ~25% charge. So I left it plugged in until the wall wart was cool to the touch. Now it works fine again. Whew! I was not reveling in the thought of having to replace that.
