AMD To Open ATI Specs

According to Slashdot, AMD to Open all ATI Radeon chipset specs. This is great news for Linux, as the open-source drivers for ATI products will be able to use hardware references and ATI information to build their drivers.

Asteroid Belt Collision Wiped out the Dinosaurs?

Breakup event in the main asteroid belt likely caused dinosaur extinction 65 million years ago covers a research team's recent discovery that an asteroid collision in the Mars-Jupiter asteroid belt could have caused not only the extinction of the dinosaurs, but also the hige tycho impact crater on the moon.

Voyager is 30

JPL has been sending out notices celebrating Voyager 1's 30th anniversary. What amazes me is that the Voyager probes are still working, and sending back useful science. Much of that is due to the stubborn persistence of the Tidbinbilla space tracking station in Australia keeping the receiving station's computers ticking.
