Michael Abrash Interview

The Daily Radar has posted an interview (yes, D.R. has something worth linking to) with Michael Abrash, formerly of id, currently working on Microsoft's XBox gaming console. The interview really digs into the "guts" of the XBox and can get a bit techy in places. All in all, it's very much worth a click. Thanks Slashdot.

Yahn Bernier Interview

Fortress Center has an posted interview with Valve's Yahn Bernier regarding their forthcoming title Team Fortress 2. Topics include the new engine, gameplay tweaks, and overall game balance. Thanks Shugashack.

Elite Force Tools

Raven has released the tools for their Quake III-powered shooter, Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force. Included is a modified version of QERadiant and several other editors. Thanks Blue.

NFL Week 5 Picks

It just what you've been waiting for (if you're insane), it's this weeks NFL picks! Let's see if I can actually improve my 36-22 record. FWIW, Eeyore is 22-21 (she didn't make picks for the first week--in that same time span I haven't been a lot better: only 25-18). Panthers, Rams, Colts, Lions, Titans, Ravens, Jaguars, Dolphins, Broncos, 49ers, Packers, Bucs, Falcons, Chiefs.

The Master comments: Eeyore's picks: Giants, Colts, Ravens, Lions, Chargers, Cowboys, Jaguars, Dolphins, Broncos, Packers, Cardinals, Redskins, Eagles, Chiefs.

Hun-Speak: Genuinely Helpful Hardware

It's rare that I purchase something computer-related and find it to be as helpful as my Handspring Visor Deluxe PDA has been. In my latest Hun-Speak column, Genuinely Helpful Hardware, I give a brief overview of all the cool things I've been able to do with it. I plan on writing in-depth reviews of some of the programs I mention in the weeks to come. In the meantime, check out my column and stay tuned to The Haus!

Loki to Port Tribes 2

Blue's News is reporting that a Tribes 2 newsletter contains a FAQ that confirms that there is a full port (not just a dedicated server) of Tribes 2 in the works for Linux. Here's the pertinent part of the FAQ:
Q: Will there be Linux support ?

A: You bet. By popular demand, we've contracted with Loki, a company that has done many Linux conversions for other games. The server code is nearly done and they are making great progress on the client code (which will ship separately from the regular game). The server code will ship within the regular retail box.
A Linux dedicated server was great news, a full Linux version is even better.

Slashdot Cracked

Somebody managed to crack Slashdot last night. If you have an account on Slashdot (like I do), it would be a good idea to change your password. If you use that same password for other sites, you might want to change those as well.

I still don't buy the arguement that these are "good" crackers, just because they didn't destroy anything. It's not their server, they have no right to be there. For Slashdot, the big lesson here is make sure you change your default password *cough*.
