Bleh

Today is the one-year anniversary of the loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia. In rememberance of those who die in the quest to expand human knowledge:
Almighty Ruler of the all
Whose power extends to great and small,
Who guides the stars with steadfast law,
Whose least creation fills with awe;
Oh, grant thy mercy and thy grace
To those who venture into space.
-- Robert A. Heinlein, Ordeal in Space, 1948

More Caffiene!

Probably the nearest and dearest thing to a geek's heart after his boxen is his source of caffiene. My Bunn coffee maker was beginning to leak rather seriously so we had to look for a replacement. We found it in this Cuisinart DTC-975BK. It's got a thermal carafe that will supposedly keep coffee hot for eight hours and warm for 12. I've verified that it keeps it hot for six. It's one of the rare ones that has thermal carafe larger which holds more than eight cups (this one holds 12). Plus you could probably beat an intruder to death with the carafe if you needed to.
