Bleh-Trend Micro -- 3:24 pm CST, Update by The Master

I finally finished up my install of Trend Micro PC-Cillin on my XP machine last night. My firewall problems were due to conflicts between XP's built in firewall and the T.M. firewall. That was a relatively easy fix.

I spent a good portion of Sunday afternoon cleaning up a massive adware infection on another PC. The people who created PokaPoka completely suck. Not to mention the ipxmlntr.dll people. They suck too. Thankfully I've got Trend Micro on that machine too. Hopefully that will be the end of this crud on machines I take care of.

BSA Ads -- 3:18 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun

As I was driving around Minneapolis today, I was disgusted to hear ads from the Business Software Alliance (BSA). The basic message was, "If you are a disgruntled employee or former employee, turn your company in and we'll pay you $50K." I'm not in favor of piracy, but I'm also not in favor of legal threats without anything vaguely resembling due process. Plus, it's not enough for them that you bought your software legitimately. You need the proof that they are looking for that you bought it. These strong-arm tactics are, for me, the best reason to switch to Free Software.
