Pondering the Imponderable

OK, here's where playoff hockey can interfere with Real Life (tm). The Wings game in Edmonton (in western Canada for the geographically-challenged) just went into overtime. Waking up tomorrow will be a problem. If the game goes long, I'll be up way too late. If the Wings win, I'll be too excited to sleep. If they lose, I'll have to find something that I can break quietly.

Buying a Computer at Retail

HardOCP made a trip to various retailers to buy a computer. They reported on the helpfulness and technical knowledge of the staff (or lack thereof). The point in all of this is to do the research yourself, because you can't depend on the staff to know beans from buckshot. From my own personal experience, I've found that you will generally find one person in each store who actually knows what he's talking about. The rest are simply glorified stock boys. Thanks Slashdot.

End of AA Linux/Mac Clients

Ryan "icculus" Gordon updated his .plan with news that the Linux and Mac clients for America's Army are officially no more. It seems that the clients were actually axed some time ago by the Army, but icculus kept up development all on his own. That's one of the many reasons he's my hero.
