Bleh: SSL

I just "renewed" one of our SSL certificates at work. We were a dedicated Verisign account until today. I priced out a 3-year standard SSL site cert from Verisign at $995. I then went to XRamp, and checked out their 3-year cert, with the same coverage but 4 times the encryption strength, at $256. Verisign lost the deal. And they're going to lose the rest of the deal when our other certs expire. XRamp is fast, efficient, and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

It's amazing. Verisign lost their monopoly on SSL cert encryption, and jacked their prices 30%. They can just go away now.

phpBB 3.0 Beta 1 Released

The phpBB Group has released the open-source phpBB 3.0 Beta 1 for testing. You can read the release announcement, or follow development on the Area 51 boards.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the dads visiting The Haus. We just had a monster brunch at home, and now everyone will commence a massive relaxation day. I have some games to play and I'm going to spend down my $15 gift cert on iTunes. Eeyore got me From the Earth to the Moon - The Signature Edition and I've got some new power tools too.

It helps that it's my birthday as well :-)

A.T. Hun comments: Happy birthday, you old coot. My wife and I spent the weekend at her 20th high school reunion. I returned home to find a new Red Wings clock for Father's Day. My Tigers completed a three-game sweep of the Cubbies. It's all good. Now I need a nap.
