XFS Solution -- 12:29 pm CST, Update by A.T. Hun
I mentioned in my article on installing the NVIDIA XFree 4.0 drivers that one casualty of my upgrade was that I could not use the X Font Server (xfs) any more. The problem was that the initialization script for xfs was not in my init.d directory. As it turns out the problem was not mine, but the fault of the person who put the XFree-xfs-4.0-0.6.i386.rpm file together. He forgot to include the xfs start-up script. Doh! I am now downloading XFree-xfs-4.0-0.8.i386.rpm from RPMFind which should nip that problem in the proverbial bud.UPDATE! That took care of the problem! I have xfs back and my fonts look quite a bit better. Whew!
