Q3:TA First Impressions

OK, so I'm a little late with this one. I was gone for Thanksgiving and my brother-in-law's computer is way too old. Basically I have to say I like the enhancements in Quake III: Team Arena. I turned off the taunts right away, they are as annoying in Q3:TA as they are in UT. The included map is very resource-hungry. Tomorrow I plan on running a bazillion timedemos with various settings to see which give the most improvements.

The new models are OK. I like the proximity mines quite a bit. The UI and menu enhancements are substantial and very well done.

Basically, if you like Q3A, you'll like this. If you don't, chances are it won't change your opinion too much. I hope Q3:TA comes with updated Q3A CTF maps so you can play all the new gametypes on those too. Right now, it's kind of hard for me to judge the game. Five bots on a graphics-intentive map really bog my machine down. Tomorrow I'll have to play a bit online and see how that goes.
