AOL Beta with Gecko -- 10:11 am CST, Update by A.T. Hun
AOL is testing a beta version of its software using Gecko as the rendering engine. Gecko is the renderer behind Mozilla and Netscape 6.x. This would really be sweet and finally convince web designers to follow the web standards instead of IE's proprietary mechanisms. Thanks Slashdot.I'm no big fan of AOL, but sometimes the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Only a monolith like AOL could force the issue like this. Best of all, in my opinion Mozilla is superior to IE in most every way. Maybe then I can start writing some standards-complient advanced HTML instead of having to go the "lowest common demoninator" approach.
