Alpha and VMS: We're Not Dead Yet

Rumors of the death of the Alpha have been greatly exaggerated: HP has announced its new line of Alpha servers and plans to keep supporting the Alpha till 2011.

Also very interesting is the confirmation that OpenVMS is being ported to the Itanium (who comes up with these names? I'll bet it's marketroids). Windows schmindows.

You know, maybe it's time to fire up the VAX, load up the COBOL compiler and start training for the future.

The Master comments: I'm sorry, but you would have to pay me a ton of cash to work in COBOL again. Literally.
