This article doesn't have much to do with our normal fare. It shows how much things have changed since 1904 in the United States. My favorite stat? The first one:

The average life expectancy in the US was 47.

According to the Center for Disease Control, the life expectancy in 2001 was 77.2. Actually from a global standpoint, 47 was pretty old in 1904. Thanks Ars Technica.
