Cedega 4.01 Released

Cedega 4.01 (formerly known as WineX) has been released. The big change here is that it supports DOOM3. Now I can play the game without any graphical corruption. It also tweaks City of Heros and Steam support. You can download a package or the CVS here (packages are for subscribers only) and read the release notes here.

While Cedega 4.01 does enable me to play the game properly, unfortunately it didn't give me 5-10 extra fps. I've been running some demo1 timedemos. As other sites suggested, 800x600 at medium detail does seem to be the "sweet spot." The only major speed up I can get is by disabling shadows. Unfortunately, that's one of the key "wow" factors in the game. I'll have to do some real playtesting to see how much it all helps. Hopefully the native binaries will give me at least a bit of a boost.
