Nullsoft/Winamp Are No More

The remaining original members of the Nullsoft team have left AOL, meaning that continued improvement on Winamp will cease. AOL pulled off one of the craziest purchases in the 90s (and that's saying something) by buying Nullsoft for, gulp, $100 million. Since I've been using Linux, I've used XMMS for my MP3/Ogg playing needs. It even supports Winamp skins! Check it out. Whaddaya suppose is the over/under on the Winamp 5 source code "accidentally" being leaked to the Net? Thanks Slashdot.

The Master comments: The over/under: Anyone who even vaguely mouses anywhere near said source code can NEVER write ANYTHING sound or music related, or else get sued by AOL. That might be a revenue stream in a few years, just look at the RIAA and SCO.
