RealPlayer Sucks

I just wasted 3 hours of my life trying to get Real Player protected media (.rax) to synchronize with Eeyore's Creative Zen Micro. Let me say, for the record, that I have NEVER in my life seen a slower, more garbage-laden piece of swill in my life than Real Player 10.x. It takes 3 minutes to load on a 2.5ghz machine. I think it needs about a gig of ram to work for anything. The software wants you to pay to do anything, including breathe--I'm pretty sure.

First I downloaded new firmware for the Zen, spending an hour getting that all flashed and the rest of the Creative software settled again. Then I had to update Real Player. Then I tried to get the supposed plugin to synch the .rax files to the Zen. Three times, since it always threw an "unsupported file type" error. That was the rest of the time wasted. I told her to go buy her tracks on Wal-Mart's site and never use Real again.

Oh, and Real--if you read this: shoot that piece of junk and start over. It's not worth anything at this point. I need to go destroy something now.

J.t.Qbe comments: Back when I had a 19K (or so) dialup connection, I used to think that Real Player was crappy because my connection was crappy. Now that I have DSL, I know that the crap was Real Player. I enjoyed this cartoon at Spamusement: the artist received a spam with the subject "Real Player" and drew this cartoon.
