- 1804: French Senate proclaims Napoleon Bonaparte emperor.
- 1896: Supreme Court endorses the "seperate but equal" Plessy vs. Ferguson decision, which is overturned 58 years later.
- 1933: The Tennessee Valley Authority is created.
- 1944: The expulsion of the Tatars from the Crimea begins after the Soviet Union accuses them of collaboration with the Germans.
- 1951: The United Nations moves to it's perminant home in Manhattan.
- 1953: Jacqueline Cochran becomes the first woman to fly supersonic in a specially modified North American F-86 Canadair over Rogers Dry Lake, CA.
- 1969: Apollo 10 blasts off.
- 1974: India joins the nuclear powers with the detonation of their first atomic bomb.
- 1980: Mount St. Helens explodes in Washington state, leaving 57 people dead or missing.
- 1990: The two Germanys sign a monetary union treaty, the first step towards Unification.
