Linus on Binary Modules

Linus Torvalds put the smack down on the Linux kernel mailing list regarding a patch to eliminate binary modules from linking with the Linux kernel. He does a good job of showing how the arguments made against binary modules are the same that the RIAA makes. I feel for the kernel developers who have to put up with companies trying cheap tricks and demanding that the kernel developers support them. The solution to the problem, however, is not to throw the proverbial baby out with the bathwater. I'm glad Linus is in charge and can cut through the B.S. with aplomb. Thanks Slashdot.

Full disclosure: the only binary module I use is the NVIDIA driver.
